What is a Christian?
A Christian defines a person who has put their faith in Jesus Christ. Here is the basic things a true Christian must believe, according to the Bible.

  • We are all sinners
  • Sin separates us from God (Romans 3:24, 2 Thessalonians 1:6-9)
  • Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead (1 Peter 3:18, Romans 5:8)
  • We are saved by faith alone in Christ (John 3:16)

Who cares?
If you call yourself a Christian, God calls you to live a holy life. Living in bondage or addiction to pornography and other lust issues is not glorifying to God. We are instructed to cast off our previous life before Christ and to not use the grace he gave us to continue to live in sin.

Define sin
Sin is anything that is in opposition to the will of God. We can find out about this by reading his word, looking at the life of Jesus Christ and the different teachings that help us to discern what is and is not acceptable in God’s eyes.

Define lust
Lust can mean many things. Jesus said that if you lust after a woman in your heart it is the same as committing adultery. Viewing pornography; entertaining sexual fantasies; looking at women in a sexual manner; masturbation. Lust is a heart issue, made present in your mind and actions.

Is sex wrong?
 No! God intended for man and woman to become one together. But it is intended to be enjoyed and experienced within marriage. Unfortunately our society, and us ourselves, have perverted sex in a way that it was not purposed to be.

Is masturbation a sin?
Let me ask you this; can you give glory to God in it? Even if you are able to not think of any lustful thoughts, it is an inherently selfish act, associated with sexual fantasies and the desire to please only yourself. We are encouraged to do everything in regards to giving God glory, so yes I believe that it is a sin.

How far is ‘too far’ physically?
Within a relationship, there need to be boundaries on what you and your girlfriend do. Look at 1 Thessalonians 4. By being sexually active (not meaning just sex with a girl), you are robbing her future husband of her purity. Again I refer you to breakaway ministries.
